The cobalt is worth it on a plain shelf
Most of our books are beige and grey, so Tulum Sol y Vida does a lot of work on that shelf. It is a properly saturated blue, not washed out. Inside it takes the remotes and the little bits that end up on the arm of the sofa.
Faux Book Box, Mexico
- Passes as a real hardback. Coffee-table-book scale, not a novelty box.
- Remotes, keys, cables — gone. They live inside instead of across the table.
- Doubles as a surface. Rigid enough for a small vase or a candle on top.
Mix colours however you like — the set price stays the same.

Description+
A hollow card box in cobalt and jungle green from Tulum and Mexico City, hiding remotes and keys behind a magnetic flap.
Six covers in cobalt, jade and jungle green, drawn from Tulum and Mexico City. Under the cover is a hollow card box that shuts on a magnet and swallows the small things that gather on a coffee table: remotes, keys, cables, a lighter. It measures 26.7 × 17.5 × 4.2 cm, so on a shelf it reads as a hardback rather than a container.
The greens and blues in this edition run deeper than the pastel editions, which makes them useful for breaking up a shelf that has gone too beige. One box per order, in the print you choose. Card, so keep it dry and lift it from underneath when loaded.
Each cover is printed on card in separate runs, so ink density can vary a shade between boxes, and screens render those colours differently again. Two boxes of the same print set side by side may not match perfectly.

Why the Faux Book Box, Mexico
The cover lifts on a magnet and the inside is hollow. Remotes, keys, charging cables and the small things that migrate around a living room all go in, out of sight but still within arm's reach of the sofa.
26.7 × 17.5 × 4.2 cm are the proportions of a real coffee table book, so it sits in a stack without announcing itself as a container. The card walls hold firm under a small vase.
Every edition carries several cover prints and you choose the one you want. Collect two or three across editions and the spines line up into a run that looks curated rather than bought in one go.

Mexico City is the sleeper of the set
I nearly went for one of the Tulum covers and I am glad I did not. The Mexico City print has more going on up close, and it reads as a design book rather than a holiday souvenir. It sits on the console between two real books and nobody has noticed.
Magnet is strong, corners are the weak point
No complaints about the print or the size, and the flap holds properly. What I would flag is the corners, which are the first thing to scuff if you slide it in and out of a shelf a lot. Mine has a small mark after three months. Still doing its job.
Frequently asked questions
How many boxes do I get?+
One. The price is for a single box in whichever cover print you select from the dropdown. The photos show the full range of prints available in that edition, not the contents of one order.
Is it a real book?+
No. There are no pages. It's a hollow box made of thick card, printed to look like a hardback travel or art title, with a magnetic flap where the pages would be.
Can I stack things on top?+
A small vase, a candle or another box or two, yes. The card is rigid and the walls hold. Don't use it as a stool or a step, and lift it from the base rather than the spine once there's weight inside.
How do I clean it?+
Wipe the cover with a dry or barely damp cloth. It's card, so keep it away from standing water and don't use spray cleaner on it.
Do the editions match each other?+
They're all the same size and finish, so they stack cleanly together. The palettes differ: Greece and Artsy sit cooler and quieter, Spain and Mexico run brighter, Italy and France land in between.
